Information for pitchers

Becoming a pitcher

  • Does your community project need money to get off the ground? 

  • Are you an individual or small group trying to make a difference in your local York community? 

  • Do you find it hard to know where to get funding to bring your ideas to life?

  • Is your group or project actively involved or “rooted” within the community that you aim to serve?

If so, STEW may be for you! 

Every person selected to pitch will get two free tickets to STEW. One for the presenter and another for someone to support them. This will give each of you a vote and a bowl of delicious stew!

​We will also be asking attendees to write down what they thought was great about each of the three projects. We'll collate this positive feedback and share it with the pitchers after the event.

Criteria to pitch

Criteria to pitch

We want to create an environment that enables groups and individuals who are typically excluded from traditional funding schemes.

​​To apply, your project must meet all the following criteria.

​

You must be:

  1. Addressing an issue affecting your community

  2. Not-for-profit.
    If you are applying on behalf of an organisation the annual income must be under £10,000.

  3. Based within, and benefiting, the City of York.

  4. Able to talk about your involvement

You DO NOT have to be a registered charity or social enterprise to be eligible and we actively encourage unregistered groups and individuals to apply.

​Is there something practical that is stopping you from applying? We’re committed to removing as many barriers as we can for people hoping to receive funding. Email us if something is stopping you (whatever it might be), we might be able to provide a solution.
