How STEW works:
Three people pitch their idea in just four minutes to welcoming, supportive audience.
The audience votes at the end for the pitch they think will benefit York most.
The prize pot is shared – even runners-up walk away with at least £100 of funding on the day.
How to apply:
Applying couldn’t be easier. All it takes is a quick email telling us who you are and what your idea is. That’s it.
Just email hello@yorktogether.org
22nd May 2026 - Applications will close.
8th June - 3 pitchers chosen to present. Support is given in the run up.
27th June - STEW: The Third Serving takes place.
What’s in it for you?
1) Direct funding
Every ticket sold adds to the prize pot and runners up get a share of the winnings.
2) No complicated forms
Just a short pitch, in your own words.
3) Salad and a soft drink
Free food and drink on the night.
4) Supportive space
A warm and welcoming space full of people who are all on the same page.
What's different this time?
This time we are holding STEW in the sunny, central Rowntree Park, during the day and at the weekend.
We're looking to create a sunny picnic vibe and are asking folks to bring along a blanket to sit on, or to settle on the grassy area in front of the amphitheater space in the park.
Food and soft drinks will be provided by Yahalla Mataam for pitchers and all of those with tickets.
We are warmly inviting children to come along with their families/guardians. Children and young people are encouraged to vote, but we will be asking that they only vote if they are able to vote independently of the adults accompanying them. This means that they are able to listen to all three pitchers and make a decisions about who they would like to vote for.
I can't make that date
If you want to pitch but can't join us in June, you can always sign up to pitch at 'STEW 4', which will take place on Wednesday 28th October from 6pm - 9pm at the Bluebird Bakery in Acomb.
