What: Media Training with Katherine Sladden.

When: Wednesday 10th December, 12.30- 2.00 pm

Who: This training is for anyone who is thinking of engaging the media in their work or activism. Priority will be given to grassroots groups with income under £20,000.

Cost: Free of charge

In this training you will explore how to:

  • tell a compelling story

  • engage effectively with press and broadcast media

  • recognise the right moment to approach the media - and be clear about the outcomes you want

  • look after your wellbeing when dealing with the media, especially in an age of increasingly hostile narratives

York Together is delighted that Katherine Sladden (Kat) will be delivering this much asked for training.

Kat has been at the forefront of some of the most high profile people-powered campaigns in the UK. As founding Campaigns Director at Change.Org UK, Kat advised hundreds of winning campaigns - from putting a woman on a banknote to changing the law for 16 year-olds in police custody - growing the site to be the largest activism platform in the UK.

She has worked with and advised international organisations and activists alike, including the ONE Campaign, Virgin Unite, survivors and bereaved families of the Grenfell Tower fire and Nobel prize nominee Jha Dukureh.
